Carborane-Siloxane Elastomers

Abstract

The compound 1,5-di-o-carboranylpentane and the derivatives 1,5- bis(1-chlorodimethylsilyl-o-carboran-2-yl)pentane and 1,5-bis(1- methoxydimethylsilyl-o-carboran-2-yl)pentane were synthesized. Apolymer was prepared by the heterofunctional condensation of the above derivatives, and its thermal and physical properties were characterized.
