INSTABILITY PROPERTIES OF AN IONIZED MEDIUM PERIODIC IN TIME AND SPACE. TRANSIENT WAVE PROPAGATION IN SYMMETRIC IONIZED EPSTEIN LAYERS.

Abstract

Different kinds of instability in a medium with a density varying due to a progressive pumpwave are studied and it is found that the dispersive ionized medium yields possibilities for traveling wave parametric amplification. (Askne) Transient wave response of a symmetric ionized Epstein layer is examined. The envelopes of the transmitted and reflected electric fields at different carrier frequencies are depicted and compared with approximate results. (Ronnang)
