ANALYSIS AND MODELLING OF THE DATA ON CHARGE EXCHANGE CROSS SECTIONS

Abstract

A brief survey is presented of the available experimental data on charge exchange cross sections, including the most recent work on resonant processes. The dependence of the electron capture cross section on the relative velocity, the degree of ionization and isoelectronic sequence of the projectile, and the atomic number of the target atom is then discussed in phenomenological terms. Empirical evaluations of the existing models for computing charge exchange cross sections were developed.
