ON TICKS OF THE GENUS ORNITHODOROS KOCH PARASITIZING BIRDS

Abstract

In the Soviet Union, 2 species of the subgenus Alectorobius, Ornithodoros coniceps Can. and O. capensis Neum., have been found. Diagnoses of these species on the adult, nymphal and larval phases are adducted. The adult ticks differ well in the structure of stigmata and dorsal integument, in the shape of the body, and other characters. The characteristics of the nymphal phase of O. capensis are described.
