ON THE METHOD OF NUMERICAL COMPUTATION OF DISPERSIVE NONLINEAR EQUATION.

Abstract

In order to examine the difference schemes to obtain numerical solutions of dispersive nonlinear equations we consider a model equation which is derived from the Schrodinger equation and is solvable exactly. By comparing the numerical solutions with the corresponding exact solutions we find that Kruskal-Zabusky's scheme applied to the Kortweg-de Vries equation approximates well the exact solution.
