SOLID STATE IMAGE INTENSIFIERS.

Abstract

Different deposition methods were experimentally tried for improving the compactness of the CdSe PC layer and thereby eliminate the grainy appearance of the optical image on the intensifier panel. For the same purpose the tin-oxide electrode was substituted by a Cr-Si0 film. The latter experiment resulted in an improved picture. Both semi-transparent and opaque black films were prepared with characteristics approaching the required values. However the semi-transparent layer deposited on the El layer was inferior to that deposited on a glass plate. Spectral emission curves of several sample EL and PL (photo-luminescent) phosphors were recorded and CIE chromaticity coordinated calculated. A standard green EL phosphor mixed with a red PL phosphor produced a color approximating a 3200K color temperature tungsten lamp. (Author)
