MODIFICATION 1-CA-2 HEADING SYSTEM.

Abstract

The task was conducted to determine the suitability of including provision for training in cross-wind landing procedures, in the Contact Flight Trainer, Device 1-CA-2. Modification was made to the 1-CA-2 at the University of Illinois to incorporate a slip-skid computer system. This makes it possible to include cross-wind approaches in training for approach with the pictorial landing display attachment to the 1-CA-2 trainer. Implications: The landing display attachment to the 1-CA-2 trainer (SPECDEVCEN Report 71-16-11) can now be used with greater training effectiveness. Training for approaches and landings will include cross-wind conditions and should increase greatly the value of this trainer. (Author)
