XV-9A HOT CYCLE RESEARCH AIRCRAFT PROGRAM

Abstract

The report summarizes a research program covering the design, fabrication, and test of the XV-9A Hot Cycle Research Aircraft. Discussion of the program is broken into five major areas: design and fabrication, engine and whirl tests, component testing, ground tests, and flight tests. During the program, conducted from 29 September 1962 through 15 March 1965, the flight feasibility of the Hot Cycle rotor was successfully validated.
