ON THE MECHANISM OF 2,4-DIMETHYLENETETRABORANE FORMATION AND A SUGGESTED CLASSIFICATION FOR CARBORANES AND ALKYLBORON HYDRIDES.

Abstract

C2D4B4H8 (tetradeutero-2,4-dimethylenetetraborane) is prepared form deuterethylene and tetraborane demonstrating that ethyltetraborane is not an intermediate species and that B4H10 probably yields (B4H8) which adds to C2D4 without hydrogen migration. A system of classifying boron-carbon-hydrogen compounds is suggested. (Author)
