DUALITY FOR NONLINEAR PROGRAMMING IN A BANACH SPACE.

Abstract

The duality problem for nonlinear programming is considered in a real Banach space. Using an appropriate generalization of the Kuhn-Tucker Theorem the main results of the finite dimensional duality problem are extended to the infite dimensional case. It is shown that the dual problem of a quadratic infinite dimensional maximization problem can be transformed into a finite minimization problem in a finite dimensional Euclidean space. Potential applications to continuous programming problems and problems of optimal control theory are illustrated by an example. (Author)
