C-W OPERATION OF SPARK TRANSMITTERS.

Abstract

A spark oscillator and transmitter was developed producing undamped ('C-W') oscillations at frequencies of 10 Mc/s. with the aid of a special type of Ferrite transformer and slow wave transmission lines with ceramic high permittivity dielectric. The production of R.F. powers in the Megawatt range and the extension of the frequency range to about 100 Mc/s are envisaged but have not been achieved so far mainly because of insulation difficulties. High frequency switching devices other than Ferrite transformers such as shock wave switches and solid state rectifiers have been investigated but found unsuitable for the production of sustained oscillations.
