THE TOTAL SOLVATION ATMOSPHERES OF THE ALKALI METAL CATIONS IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION.

Abstract

Estimates of the total number of water molecules in the hydration atmospheres of the alkali metal cations based on the cationic isotope effect on conductance, the ratio of the limiting conductances, and the H2O-D2O isotope effect on conductance give values in agreement with the earlier estimate based on the minimum in the concentration dependence of the Arrhenius activation energy of viscous flow.
