MEMORANDUM ON THE USE OF THE CORRECT POINTOF-AIM IN GUNNERY TRAINING DEVICES.
Abstract
Conclusions: Gunners should be trained on al large number of different attacks in a given quadrant or sector. The repeated use of the same attacks for a given gunner results in the learning of highly specific responses to given situations (attacks) at the expense of learning the general principles and operations of leading. The point-of-aim should be continuously visible to the gunner when he is first presented with new attacks. Insufficient evidence and experience with the various methods of presenting the point-of-aim make it impossible to recommend any one method as being the most efficient for training after the first few sessions.
