ACTIVE AND PASSIVE BAND-PASS FILTERS WITH LINEAR PHASE.

Abstract

A new type of pole-residue, linear phase, band-pass filter, originally presented by Robert Lerner in 1964, is analyzed, its method extended, and suggested improvements given. A different method of describing the filter parameters is given and equations are developed that allow a wide latitude in adjusting the system gain and pole locations to achieve desired in-band magnitude and magnitude ripple relationships. A quantitative comparison of the filter is made with the Chebyshev, Butterworth, and Thomson filters. Suggested unbalanced network realizations are given using Negative Impedance Converters and Tunnel Diodes. (Author)
