EVALUATION OF AORTIC BLOOD VELOCITY COMPUTED FROM THE PRESSURE PULSE.

Abstract

A method for computing aortic blood flow from the aortic pressure pulse by analog computer technics was evaluated. The method provides a continuous stroke-by-stroke indication of aortic blood flow through the use of a simple cardiac catheter. Aortic blood flow calculated from the area under the computed linear velocity curve was compared with cardiac output which was obtained by indicator dilution technics. Good correlation was found to exist between the two methods. (Author)
