COPYING NOISY RADIO CODE MESSAGES.

Abstract

The problem was to determine the ability of radiomen to copy radio code at various signal-to-noise ratios. It was found that code copying performance deteriorates as the signal-to-noise ratio becomes small. This information will be of use in determining figures of merit for communication systems employing radio code and human transcribers, and for comparing the overall performance of such systems with fully automated systems.
