A STUDY OF CONVERSATIONAL ON-LINE INTERACTION IN MAN-MACHINE WAR GAMING.

Abstract

The report describes the results of a study of war gaming using on-line interaction between man and computer. The study concludes that analysis and war gaming capabilities can be increased significantly using a time-sharing computer system with appropriate software and remote-access terminals. A system concept called CONSORT (CONversational System with On-Line Remote Terminals) is described, and specifications are given for a user-oriented, conversational language, JOSL, which is designed specifically for simulation and analysis applications. CONSORT includes an automated data library, computer programming management features, and the capability to operate computer programs written in languages other than JOSL. Computer-aided manual gaming using CONSORT is described. (Author)
