STUDY OF MECHANIZATION IN DOD LIBRARIES AND INFORMATION CENTERS

Abstract

The report summarizes the on-site study of mechanization in DoD libraries and information centers. Included are presentations and evaluations on thesaurus building, file structure, input processing, serial control, selective dissemination of information, circulation control, equipments being used, recommendations on information retrieval systems, observations on organization, operation and application, and summaries on mechanization status, scope and six of collections, and COSATI subject area breakdowns. 76 facilities were visited; individual reports were generated for 35. Abstracts for the 35 reports and their DDC AD numbers are included.
