MOSSBAUER-EFFECT SPECTROSCOPY,

Abstract

Mossbauer-effect spectroscopy is discussed with emphasis on spectrometer design. Construction of a Mossbauer-effect spectrometer using a loudspeaker as the velocity transducer, capable of operation with either constant velocities or with constant accelerations, is described. Resonance experiments with the 14.4-keV Mossbauer-effect gamma ray from Co57 (Fe57m) are used to describe the performance of the spectrometer. (Author)
