LABORATORY SIMULATION OF LUNAR LUMINESCENCE.

Abstract

The report concerns mainly further investigation of the proton-excited luminescence of meteoritic material. The source of the different types of luminescence from the enstatite achondrites was elucidated by neutron activation analysis, and the characteristic luminescence spectra of difference classes of meteorites were investigated. The effect of proton damage both on the efficiencies and on the spectra were investigated; it was also found that heating produces recovery from damage, and this process is being studied.
