MAGNETIC PROPERTIES AND ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE OF LANTHANUM HYDRIDES.

Abstract

Previously the nuclear magnetic properties of the lanthanum hydrides have been interpreted in terms of a protonic model while the bulk susceptibilities have been attributed to an hydridic structure. The experimental results and their theoretical relation to the electronic structure are discussed. A simple band model is used to show that the hydridic structure also can account for the magnetic resonance results. Application of the band model to other metallic hydrides is considered briefly.
