THE PHYSICS OF METASTABLE SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Results of studies in the following areas are briefly summarized: Collisional-radiative recombination of He(+) into dissociative states; temperature dependence of the rate of conversion of He(+) into He2(+); atomic and molecular emission in the negative glow of a helium discharge; spectroscopic investigation of the helium-neon molecule; application of the Franck-Condon principle to molecular excitation by collision with excited atoms and molecules; Hornbeck-Molnar cross-sections for the n=3 states of helium; inelastic excitation transfer in helium. A cumulative list of publications generated under the contract is included.
