STOCHASTIC AND SAMPLING PROCESSES FOR THE LOGARITHMIC SERIES DISTRIBUTION.

Abstract

In the present report several stochastic and sampling processes leading to the logarithmic series distribution and some related distributions were studied. An attempt was made to present a unified picture, using a single notation, of the various derivations and approaches that appear in the literature. These derivations and approaches are compared and some of the relationships among them are brought out. Though the work is mainly interpretative, there are a few results that seem to be new.
