AGING OF BERYLLIUM-CHROMIUM AND BERYLLIUM-ZIRCONIUM ALLOYS,

Abstract

The work presents the results of research on the processed aging in beryllium alloys containing 0.3% Cr or 0.3% Zr, prepared from distilled beryllium (99.95%) and electrolytic chromium (99.7%) or iodide zirconium (99.9%). An analysis of these results confirms the conclusion reached earlier that almost complete precipitation of Cr from the matrix occurs during aging. In the case of Be-Zr alloy zirconium apparently not only completely precipitates from the matrix, but also promotes precipitation of other impurities. (Author)
