SUPERSONIC FLOW OF AIR AROUND CORNERS

Abstract

Problems arising in the field of supersonic aerodynamics frequently involve 'Prandtl-Meyer' flows. These flows permit exact mathematical solutions, and tables describing such flows are available. However, most of these tables suffer from one defect or another. Thus, some of them are based on a value of gamma of 1.4, which is not sufficiently accurate for many investigations. Others are either not extensive or accurate enough. In the table care was taken to avoid most of these major defects; the calculations are based on gamma = 1. 405, and they were carried out with an accuracy deemed satisfactory for most purposes.
