THE MEASUREMENT OF TRANSFER OF TRAINING,

Abstract

The present report presents a summary of the methods whichhave been used to give quantitative expression to measures of transfer of training. It is pointed out that a number of factors in the various experimental situations which have been used to investigate transfer exert an influence upon the kind of expression which is used. Six relatively distinct methods of measuring transfer are found in the literature, and some advantages and limitations of each are described in this report. Certain desirable criteria are mentioned which transfer measures should possess for both theoretical and practical purposes. The extent to which each of the measures meets these criteria is discussed. (Author)
