A MINERAL TRANSITION IN ATMOSPHERIC DUST TRANSPORT,

Abstract

The minerals mirabilite and thenardite differ only in number of waters of crystallization, and may easily change from one state to the other. The identification of the minerals in airborne dust by infrared absorption spectroscopy and the rapidity of the transition are discussed. (Author)
