AN EXPRESSION FOR THE BURNING VELOCITY IN SIMULTANEOUS HOMOGENEOUS AND HETEROGENEOUS REACTIONS,

Abstract

In the combustion of many systems, apart from the homogeneous reaction, a heterogeneous reaction can also take place on the particles which are either specially introduced into the system (catalytic or energetic additives) or are formed during the combustion process, e.g., soot. Consideration is given to the case when the heterogeneous reaction takes place in a diffusion regime, i.e., when the velocity is limited by the rate at which the reagents are transported to the surface of the particles.
