EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF JET FORMATION BEHIND A SHOCK FRONT DURING DISCHARGE FROM DIVERGENT AND SUPERSONIC NOZZLES,

Abstract

A shock tube with a nozzle attached to its open end was used as the experimental apparatus. The investigation results established that the character of the flow formation in the discharge from nozzles is exactly the same as in the discharge from cylindrical ducts. The flow parameters behind the shock front during discharge from nozzles depend only on the value of the gasdynamic parameters at the nozzle edge behind the shock wave. The relationships determining the flow parameters for cylindrical ducts and nozzles are the same. (Author)
