ON THERMOELASTICITY OF NONHOMOGENEOUS, ANISOTROPIC SHELLS.

Abstract

Starting with a three-dimensional continuum, general equations for arbitrary shells are derived allowing for arbitrary displacements within the shell body. Using a power series expansion for the displacements in terms of the thickness coordinate, the derivations are valid also for shells which are not necessarily thin and are based on the assumption of small deformations and on nonhomogeneous, anisotropic, elastic material. Thermal stresses due to arbitrary temperature distributions in space and time are included. (Author)
