ON CERTAIN TYPES OF SELF-EXCITED OSCILLATION OCCURRING WITH AIRCRAFT CONTROL SURFACES IN TRANSONIC FLOW,

Abstract

Brief reference is made to the results of wind-tunnel experiments on self-excited oscillations of control surfaces in transonic flow. Two particular examples are discussed and an attempt is made to provide theoretical 'mechanisms' of oscillation which are in agreement with the observations. (Author)
