MANAGEMENT THEORY AND THE ECONOMIC SIZE OF ORGANIZATIONS

Abstract

The paper attempts to demonstrate that the management of large organizations need not be inherently less efficient than that of smaller organizations. The impact of the management factors tending to increase total unit costs is explored, and a list of eight generally applicable offsetting factors defined.
