PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE FOR RUBY LASER RODS.

Abstract

Single variable studies of standoff and gas flows have indicated definite optimum ranges. Boule diameter has an effect on boule quality but is not an independent variable. Furnace chamber diameter affects quality but growth is very difficult in the range where best quality was achieved. Initial multi-variable studies indicated an advantage for pulsed powder feed but other factors should be checked before drawing a definite conclusion. (Author)
