PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE FOR IMPROVED RELIABILITY OF HERMETICALLY SEALED TANTALUM FOIL CAPACITORS.

Abstract

The product improvement evaluation program was completed with the necessary information included in the final design and processing of the reliability proof test units in the production run. In general, the capacitors with the standard electrolyte resulted in parameters with less variance than the capacitors with the replacement electrolytes. The foil type, oxide formation, and method of aging factors did not have an appreciable effect on the product reliability performance. Efforts continued on the fabrication of the 9,150 test capacitors in the production run with approximately 94 percent of the units completing manufacturing. The reliability proof test was started with some 3,085 capacitors put on test to date. (Author)
