ELECTROSTRICTION AND THE DEHYDRATION OF IONS UNDER PRESSURE.

Abstract

The postulation of a dense inner zone of electrostricted water surrounding cations in aqueous solution and an outer zone consisting of a rarified Frank-Wen cluster can account for both electrostriction and the dehydration of ions by hydrostatic pressure--phenomena which hitherto appeared to be mutually incompatible.
