MEASUREMENTS OF THE CENTER-LIMB VARIATIONS ON THE H- AND K- LINES OF CAII IN UNDISTURBED AND ACTIVE REGIONS ON THE SUN,

Abstract

The center-limb variation of delta(lambda-2), defined as half the distance between the emission peaks in the doubly reversed H- and K- lines was investigated. The observational material consists of spectra obtained at the Solar Observatory, Harestua, during the period February 1, 1964 to January 1, 1966. In undisturbed regions the center-limb variation may be represented by a well defined smooth curve. This is not the case in active regions although there is a tendency for the delta(lambda-2) to increase towards the limb. The difference between the measurements in the H- and K- lines is probably due to a systematic error in the observed delta(lambda-2) in the H-line. (Author)
