TRAINING 90 MM GUN CREWS. APPENDIX V. FOLLOW-UP STUDY OF RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES AND TRAINING AIDS.

Abstract

A report is made of the comparative state of readiness of a group of 90MM AA Gun Crews who were trained by an experimental method devised by psychologists at the Ohio State University. That method resulted in a program of instruction capable of saving 25% of the training time now devoted to 90MM Gun Crew Training at replacement training centers. Human Engineering Report NAVTRADEVCEN 495-01-4, 'Training 90MM AA Gun Crews,' reports the experimental method in detail. Apparently, training can be accomplished with a saving of 25% of time, no loss in proficiency, and an improvement in motivation. The current report is an attempt to estimate how well these gains were held at six months and one year after the completion of replacement training center training. (Author)
