ON THE USE OF ACRYLIC PLASTIC AS AN OPTICAL FILTER COMMENT AND CURVES.

Abstract

A fairly comprehensive study is presented of the spectral response curves of various samples of an acrylic plastic. The curves are presented in the usual form, i.e., percentage transmission versus light wavelength. It is found that no one sample was usable for filters of the interference type. However, by the combination of two or more samples, half-bandwidths of the order of 150A can be obtained; this figure being one which is most usually found on specifications for interference type filters.
