STABILITY AND TRANSPORT CHARACTERISTICS OF FLAMES.

Abstract

Two topics in the theory of flames are discussed. One has to do with flame development and attachment and the other with diabatic forces on bodies. These topics were chosen because they show two directions in which development of the theory of flames is needed. These two topics also illustrate, and therefore emphasize, the existence of both medium and large scale aerodynamic combustion phenomena. Creation and absorption of energy and mass as well as transport of energy and momentum will enter in the theory but not to the same degree in both cases. (Author)
