SOME EFFECTS OF INTER-ELEMENT CORRELATION AND CLIPPING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF RECEIVING ARRAYS,

Abstract

The paper discusses some aspects of the performance of receiving arrays in the presence of non-uniform and correlated background noise, for both linear and clipped processing techniques. Examples are used to illustrate correlation between receivers with finite spacing and the effect of this correlation on line, planar, and spherical arrays. Some effects of clipped processing in non-uniform noise environments are also discussed. (Author)
