STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF A RESEARCH EXPERIMENT TO IDENTIFY AND ESTIMATE THE EFFECTS AND INTERACTIONS OF SEVERAL IMPORTANT HERO VARIABLES.

Abstract

The data which served as a basis for this study were obtained from a statistically designed research test. The objective of the research test was to investigate the effects of the variables of frequency, weapon types, launcher position, distance, and orientation on the amount of induced current measured in the EED circuitry. An analysis of these data established that all five of the variables investigated have a significant effect on the induced current measured. When all five of the variables are considered simultaneously, there are complicated three and four-variable interactions in addition to the five main effects and two-variable interactions. Because of the extreme complexity of the phenomena of aircraft-weapon systems receiving radio frequency waves in a near field, it was decided that each frequency must be treated separately. The variable of weapons and interactions containing weapons were found to be significant. Since this variable is a discrete type variable, each new weapon also must be treated separately.
