INTRINSIC BRITTLE STRENGTH OF MAGNESIA BICRYSTALS.

Abstract

The intrinsic strength of grainboundaries of MgO-bicrystals was studied. The grainboundary strength was found to be 370,000 psi or approximately the same as the single crystal. The attempt to relate the grainboundary strength to the five orientation parameters was not complete. (Author)
