THE PHYSIOLOGIC SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CORTICOSTEROIDS IN PAROTID FLUID.

Abstract

The work aims to further elucidate the usefulness of measuring corticosteroid levels in parotid fluid as an index of the body's response to physiologic stress by an increase in the production of adrenocortical hormones. This elucidation is most necessary for the evaluation of such measurements performed under conditions in which blood sampling is difficult or impossible and parotid fluid steroid levels are used to evaluate physiological status, such as on projected long space missions.
