A DYNAMIC THERMOCOUPLE FOR MEASUREMENT OF PLASMA TEMPERATURE TO 4000C,

Abstract

In this work there is described a method of measurement of high temperatures of gas (3000 to 4000C) with the help of a Pt - Pt/10% Rh thermocouple introduced into the investigated region in a pulsed manner. In the article there is described a device for dynamic introduction of thermocouple into investigated region together with a time analyzer of the heating curve of the thermocouple. The method is based on measurement of heating of thermocouple in an interval of time smaller than the time necessary for its fusion. There are proposed semi-empirical formulas connected according to known measured temperatures of gas in a furnace (less than 1500C). There was measured temperature of plasma of an acetylene-oxygen burner. Data will agree with the real temperature. Basic measurements were conducted in a flow of combustion products obtained in a combustion chamber; there also were made preliminary measurements in a high-speed plasma tunnel.
