F-CENTER FORMATION BY FUNDAMENTAL ABSORPTION IN KI.

Abstract

The experimental techniques employed in this work consisted of irradiating a KI crystal with ultraviolet and, in some cases, additional visible light. This irradiation resulted in the growth of color centers which were studied by measuring the growth of the absorption bands associated with the centers. The effect of bleaching on the growth was studied and in addition, various luminescence measurements were performed.
