PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE FOR RUBY LASER RODS.

Abstract

Additional multi-variable runs have been completed in the process engineering studies. These runs have established optimum values for process parameters for ruby growth in a furnace chamber of specific size. It was shown that, contrary to original expectation, the pulsed powder feed system is preferred over continuous feed. A description of the system and procedures used in active laser tests is presented. The results of active and passive tests on all engineering samples are summarized and discussed. (Author)
