Abstract

A survey is presented of current political trends in Europe based on the author's observations during a two-month visit in the summer of 1966. Discussed are (1) the European political environment evolving as the discipline imposed on Europe by the cold war diminishes; (2) European attitudes toward the United States and the Atlantic Alliance; (3) the problem of European unification; and (4) the special problem of Germany.
