A TIME-SHARED PROGRAM SYSTEM FOR THE SOLUTION OF THE STABILITY PROBLEM FOR PARALLEL FLOWS OVER RIGID OR FLEXIBLE SURFACES,

Abstract

The report describes a system of programs, designed to be used on the MIT Compatible Time Sharing System (CTSS), for solving the Orr-Sommerfeld parallel-flow stability problem of incompressible flow in contact with a rigid or flexible surface. The programs can be combined, building-block fashion, to treat a large variety of cases. As examples are shown: (1) Blasius' boundary layer over a flexible membrane, (2) turbulent boundary layer over a free water surface, and (3) free shear layer. (Author)
