ON THE RHEOLOGY OF A VISCOELASTIC MEDIUM,

Abstract

The most general of the rheological relationships which are utilized in the mechanics of a viscoelastic medium results from the Boltzmann superposition principle. As is known, this principle has formal reasoning at its base to a considerable degree. But with such foundations the superposition principle admits of further extensions, one of which is considered. A scheme and some test results are presented which permit clarification of the sphere of operation of this extension in application to real materials whose behavior during deformation processes is viscoelastic to a sufficient degree.
