THE LONG RANGE INTERACTION BETWEEN THREE HYDROGEN ATOMS,

Abstract

The three-body interaction energy for three hydrogen atoms a, b and c at large distances Rab, Rbc and Rca from each other is calculated to be 21.6425 (3 cos Theta-a cos Theta-b cos Theta-c + 1)/(Rab) cubed X (Rbc) cubed X (Rca) cubed atomic units, where Theta-a, Theta-b and Theta-c are the internal angles of the triangle abc. The calculation is carried out by transforming the three-body problem into three one-body problems. (Author)
